‘God
Brings Down Pride.’
Isaiah
9:8-12.
a) Isaiah 9:8. The
Lord sent this Word for Israel and Jacob.
b) Isaiah 9:9. The
people knew that it was the Word of the Lord but in pride and arrogance of
heart they rejected it.
c) Isaiah 9:10. In
their pride Israel said that the bricks had fallen but they would build with
dressed stones and the sycamores had been cut down but they would put cedars in
their place.
d) Isaiah 9:11. So
God raised up enemies against them and stirred up their enemies.
e) Isaiah 9:12.
The Arameans and the Philistines came and devoured Israel with an open mouths
but still God was angry with His People.
(This
QT convinces me that God Brings Down Pride)
‘Bright
And Shining Lord.’
Matthew
17:1-2.
a) Jesus took
Peter, James and John then took them to a high mountain apart.
b) Then Jesus was
transfigured before them.
c) His Face shone
like the sun.
d) His clothes
became dazzling white.
(Through this Second one I am amazed by the transfiguration
of the Bright And Shining Lord)
Chris.
God raised up enemies against His People and He
stirred up those enemies. We frequently cannot understand the ways of God or
why He does some of the things that He does. One thing is sure – we can Trust
Him. As Job said: Although the Lord slays me yet I will trust Him. We should Trust
Him and not be afraid.
