‘In God’s Name Go.’
Jonah 1:2-3.
a) God told Jonah to go to
the great city of Nineveh.
b) God told Jonah to cry
against Nineveh because the people were so wicked.
c) Jonah wanted to disobey God
and run away to Tarshish and from the Presence of the Lord.
d) Jonah went to Joppa and
boarded a ship bound for Tarshish.
e) Jonah paid his fare and
went down into the ship.
f) Jonah was deliberately
going from the Presence of the Lord.

God gave clear directions to Jonah of the place that He wanted
him to go to. Jonah disobeyed God and went his own way. Even today there are
some ‘Jonahs’ in God’s Kingdom, people who run away from God’s Will and who try
to establish their own way – it ends up in disaster.
