The Wasted City!

‘The Wasted City.’
Isaiah 24:7-13.
a)     Isaiah 24:7. The new wine will be bad, the grapevines will die and the merry heated people will become sad.
b)     Isaiah 24:8. The happy music of the tambourines will end, the noise of the jubilant people will cease and the joyful music from the harps will end.
c)     Isaiah 24:9. People will no longer sing as they drink their wine and strong drink will taste bitter to those who drink it.
d)     Isaiah 24:10. The ruined city will be emptied and people will hide behind closed doors.
e)     Isaiah 24:11. People in the streets will ask for wine, joy will have turned to sadness and all the happiness will have left.
f)      Isaiah 24:12. The City will be left in ruins and its gates shall be smashed to pieces.
g)     Isaiah 24:13. This is what it is like in the midst of the Earth among the Nations, it will be like an olive tree after the harvest when it is beaten, and as the gleaning when the grape harvest is finished.

‘Grab For Position.’
1 Kings 1:9-11.
a)     1 Kings 1:9. Adonijah sacrificed by the Serpent’s stone:-
1-    Sheep.
2-    Oxen.
3-    Fattened cattle.
b)     1 Kings 1:9. This was near the Spring of Rogel.
c)     1 Kings 1:9. Adonijah invited all of his brothers to come along with all the royal officials of Judah.
d)     1 Kings 1:10. Adonijah did not invite:-
1-    Nathan the prophet.
2-    Benaiah and his men who were David’s special guard.
3-    Solomon his brother.
e)     1 Kings 1:11. When Nathan heard about this grab for position he went to tell Bathsheba the mother of Solomon. He her told exactly what had happened.
(This Second reveals to me an unholy Grab For Position)

Chris.
Adonijah wanted to secretly take over the Kingship of God’s people illegally. This was really a grab for position by a cunning and deceptive man. Sometimes the same thing happens in Nations and even Churches today. This is really not God’s Way – it is sin.
