‘Live Out The Word Of God.’
James 1:22-25.
a) James 1:22; Luke 11:28.
We should be doers of God’s Word, not just hearers only. When we are hearers
only we deceive ourselves.
b) James 1:23-24. If anyone
hears the Word of God and does not put it into practise:-
1- They are like a person beholding their natural face in a mirror.
2- They consider themselves. (Not God)
3- They go their own way.
4- They forget what they are like.
c) James 1:25. Whoever looks
into the perfect Law of Liberty and perseveres in it. This person is not a
forgetful hearer but a doer of the work. This person shall be Blessed in their
deeds.
(Through this QT I want to
Live Out The Word Of God)
‘Go Home.’
1 Kings 1:49-53.
a) 1 Kings 1:49. All
Adonijah’s guests:-
1- Were afraid.
2- Left quickly.
3- Scattered.
b) 1 Kings 1:50. Adonijah
was afraid of King Solomon so he went to the Temple and took hold of the horns
of the Altar. (That was the most extreme plea for Mercy)
c) 1 Kings 1:51. Someone
told King Solomon about all this; that Adonijah was holding the horns of the
Altar and pleading with the people not to let Solomon kill him.
d) 1 Kings 1:52. Solomon
said that Adonijah must show himself as a man of honour. If Adonijah did that
he would not lose one hair of his head. (Be treated with compassion)
e) 1 Kings 1:52.
Alternatively Adonijah shall die if:-
1- He does anything wrong.
2- He makes trouble.
3- Evil or wickedness is found in him.
f) 1 Kings 1:53. King
Solomon asked his servants to bring Adonijah from the Altar into his presence.
Adonijah came and bowed before te king. The king said to him: “Go Home.”
(This Second one: Go Home, teaches me what humble compassion is
like)
Chris.
King Solomon’s hope was that Adonijah could be treated with
compassion. His first thought was not that of revenge but that of compassion.
That was truly a ‘beautiful heart’. Too often our first thoughts are ones of
revenge in such circumstances, “it’s natural” people say, but it is not God’s
Way. Compassion is God’s Way.
