‘Widows Of The Church.’
1 Timothy 5:3-5.
a)
1 Timothy 5:3. Support
widows who are genuinely widows and whose income from the Government is not
enough to live on. Also offer the widows spiritual and emotional support.
b)
1 Timothy 5:4. It is
pleasing to God if the Children or Grandchildren are able to support their
widowed parent or grandparent.
c)
1 Timothy 5:5. The real
and genuine case Church widow:-
1-
Is left all alone.
2-
Has her Hope in God.
3-
Continues night and day in her petitions and prayers.
(This QT
gives me clear understanding about the Widows Of The Church)
‘Ministry
With The Wisdom Of God.’
1
Corinthians 2:2-8.
a)
1 Corinthians 2:2.
Apostle Paul is the example for us of this Ministry.
b)
1 Corinthians 2:2; 1
Corinthians 1:23-24; Galatians 6:14. Paul determined not to know anything
amongst the highly intellectual Corinthians except Christ and Christ Crucified.
c)
1 Corinthians 2:3.
Apostle Paul came to Corinth in:-
1-
Weakness.
2-
Fear.
3-
Much trembling.
d)
1 Corinthians 2:4.
Apostle Paul’s speech and Proclamation were not with persuasive words of wisdom
but with a powerful demonstration by the Holy Spirit.
e)
1 Corinthians 2:5.
Apostle Paul wanted the Corinthian Church to have their Faith not based on man’s
wisdom but on God’s Power.
f)
1 Corinthians 2:6-7. The
Wisdom of God that Apostle Paul ministered:-
1-
Was received by mature people.
2-
Was not a “wisdom” of the age.
3-
Was not a “wisdom” of the World’s rulers.
4-
Was not a “wisdom” that was coming to nothing.
5-
Was God’s hidden Wisdom in a mystery.
6-
Was a Wisdom that God predestined before the ages that would be
Light (Glory) for us.
g)
1 Corinthians 2:8. None
of the rulers of the age or World system knew this Wisdom.
h)
1 Corinthians 2:8. If the
rulers of the age had known God’s Wisdom they would not have Crucified the Lord
of Glory.
(Through
this Second one I begin to understand about Ministry With The Wisdom Of God)
Chris.
Apostle Paul’s
Ministry in Corinth and in every place that he went to was not in the “wisdom”
of the age. Paul depended much on God’s Grace, the work of the Cross in his
hearers’ lives and the Holy Spirit. There is a great temptation that the Church
faces today to minister in the “wisdom” of the age, to “meet people where they
are at”. This is actually not the Lord’s Way to add to the Church. We need to
learn from Apostle Paul, we need to depend on God’s Grace, the work of the
Cross and the Holy Spirit.
