‘A Church Overseer.’
(This means an Elder or Pastor in today’s
language)

a) 1 Timothy 3:1. It is a
noble work to be an overseer.
b) 1 Timothy 3:2-3; Titus
1:5-9. He must be;-
1- Above reproach.
2- The husband of one wife.

4- Sensible.
5- Respectable.
6- Hospitable.
7- An able Teacher.
8- Not addicted to wine.
9- Not a bully.
10- Gentle.
11- Not quarrelsome.

c) 1 Timothy 3:4. The Church
overseer should be a person who manages his own household competently.
d) 1 Timothy 3:4. The Church
overseer should have his children under control with all dignity.
e) 1 Timothy 3:5. If anyone
does not know how to manage his own household, how will he take care of God’s
Church.
f) 1 Timothy 3:6. The Church
overseer must not be a new convert, or he might become conceited and fall into
the condemnation of the devil.
g) 1 Timothy 3:7. The Church
overseer must have a good reputation among outsiders, so that he does not fall
into disgrace and the Devil’s trap.
(This QT reminds
me of what I should expect in A Church Overseer)
‘How To Walk In
Love.’
Ephesians 5:2.
a) It is something that God
expects us to do.
b) Love other people as Christ
loved us.
c) Be willing to give
ourselves for other people if necessary.
d) Live as a sacrificial and
fragrant offering to God. (An offering that pleases Him)
(Through this Second one I am instructed How
To Walk In Love)
Chris.
Outsiders view of our Church Pastors and Elders must be taken into
consideration. It is not only the work of the Church Overseer that is hidden in
the Church that is important it is also his reputation outside the Church. The
Church Overseer should never fall into the trap of the devil, if this happens
he will be disgraced. A Disgraced Church Overseer is useless both to God and to
the Church.
