Shebna Was Only A Secretary!

‘Shebna Was Only A Secretary.’
Isaiah 22:15-19.
a)       Isaiah 22:15. Secretary Shebna was looking after the household of the king at that time.
b)       Isaiah 22:16. Shebna’s pride caused him to have an elevated view of his position. He had cut himself a tomb in the high place and carved out a dwelling place for himself in the rock. (Behaving just like a king)
c)       Isaiah 22:17. Even though Shebna made himself a strong man the Lord was going to seize firm hold on him and hurl him away violently.
d)       Isaiah 22:18-19. Shebna was destined for an unpleasant death God was going to:-
1-      Whirl him around and around.
2-      Throw him like a ball into a wide land.
3-      Cause him to die amongst the glorious chariots of his master’s house.
4-      Thrust him from his office.
5-      Pull him down from his station.

‘Thank You Lord.’
1 Peter 2:24.
a)       He bore our sins in His Body on the tree.
b)       He enables us to die to sin.
c)       He enables us to live to Righteousness.
d)       By His wounds we have been healed.
(This Second one calls me to exclaim: Thank You Lord)

Chris.
God was able to throw Shebna like a ball into a wide land – how amazing. When we read the Scriptures we should be in awe of our God. Just as amazing as the Shebna story is, God is also able to forgive us and cleanse us from our sins so that we can live a life that is Glorifying to Him.
