Judges 12:5-6.
a)
The
Gileadites took control of the border control.
b)
They were
especially to keep out the Ephraimites.
c)
Every person
who wanted to cross the border was asked if they were an Ephraimite.
d)
If the
person denied being from Ephraim they were tested,
e)
It was a
speech test. They had to say ‘Shibboleth’.
f)
The
Ephraimites could not pronounce it correctly but said ‘Sibboleth’.
g)
Because of
this 42,000 Ephraimites were arrested at the border. They were killed and put
to death.

Testing
of our lives is something we go through when we cross borders. All people
moving from one part of the World to another, whether for work or vacation,
find themselves being checked and asked testing questions by immigration
officials. The borders of Nations may be the first place that discrimination
takes place. Whether at the border or inside the country discriminated people
can do little about it. We, as True Believers, should be Praying for the
discriminated people in our countries and that the injustices of discrimination
will stop. This will be one way in which God can change the World. Sometimes
Churches are very weak in this area because they themselves discriminate.
