'Joshua's Beginnings As a Leader.'
Joshua 1:1-9.
a) 1:1-2. Joshua was the person for the job of leading God's People. God
told Joshua to:-
1-Get ready.
2-Move on in His Will.
3-Lead the people.
b) 1:3-5. God was with Joshua.
1-1:3. God was handing to Joshua everywhere he set his feet. It means Joshua needed to be active, not passive.
2-1:4. Joshua was given a territory with boundaries. Every leader needs to
know their territory and boundaries.
3-1:5. God promised to be with Joshua for the remainder of his life.
c) 1:6-9. God gave responsibility as a Leader to Joshua.
1-1:6. He needed to be strong and brave in his leadership.
2-1:6. He needed to remember this was God's doing and giving.
3-1:7. Being obedient to God's Word would make him a successful Leader.
4-1:8. God's Word needed to be in his mouth and mind.
5-1:.9. Because God was with Joshua, there was no need for him to panic or
be afraid.

'Being Motivated By God'

their Promised Land.
c) 1:3-5. God reminds Joshua of the Promise - God would be with Joshua and
give Him Victory.
d) 1:6-9. God reminds Joshua of the life style Principles of a Leader:-
1-Strength.
2-Courage.
3-Obedience.
4-Biblical Meditation.
(This Second one reminds me of the necessity of Being Motivated By God)

Chris.
Every Leader, especially a Christian Leader, has to be trained in
Leadership. There needs to be someone whom the future Leader can look to as an
example of Leadership. Of course, the first example of this is Jesus Christ
Himself; any Leader who neglects studying the Life of Jesus is going to have
immense difficulty leading well. Jesus Christ is the Model Leader for every
Leader. Secondly, there should be Leaders who disciple or mentor us, people
that we know, watch and talk to who help us prepare for Leadership. Thirdly, we
should never be dominated by a person who is trying to make us a leader in
their style.
