Not Just Trouble!



‘Not Just Trouble.’
1 Thessalonians 1:6.
a)     The Thessalonian Christians were determined to live following the example of Apostle Paul and his team.
b)    In imitating Apostle Paul they were imitating the Master.
c)     They faced trouble as they received the Word of God, there were external hindrances.
d)    They were able to take great Joy from the Holy Spirit.
e)     They took the trouble with the Joy.
f)      They took the Joy with the trouble.
(This QT teaches me that the environment of the Thessalonians Church was Not Just Trouble)

‘The Result Of The Preaching Of The Cross.’
Acts 2:36-42.
a)     Acts 2:36. The clear portrayal of the Cross, the crucifiers and the Crucified.
b)    Acts 2:37. The convicting work of the Holy Spirit. The people in their sins wanted to know what to do.
c)     Acts 2:38. Peter’s answer to their question:-
1-        Repent and change your life.
2-        Turn to God.
3-        Be Baptised in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
4-        Make sure that your sins are forgiven.
5-        Receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit.
d)    Acts 2:39. The Promise of the Holy Spirit is for all True Believers in all generation since the Book of Acts. Of course the Promise was for Peter’s hearers too.
e)     Acts 2:40. Peter urged them to respond to the Gospel Message.
f)      Acts 2:41. Many people became True Believers that day.
g)    Acts 2:42. The Church was formed. The people:-
1-        Committed themselves to the Teaching of the Apostles.
2-        Committed themselves to Fellowship life.
3-        Committed themselves to Fellowship meals and Holy Communion.
4-        Committed themselves to Prayers.

The Preaching of the Cross will, sooner or later, produce results. We cannot be neutral about the Cross of Jesus, we either accept the Message or we reject it. If we accept the Message of the Cross it is very certain that our life will change for the better, whether dramatically or as a process.
