‘The Early Local Church.’
Colossians 4:15.
a)
This is not to be
confused with the area Church, which was made up of groups of local Churches
and had overseers.
b)
Nympha hosted the
Believers in her house.
c)
Many New Testament Local
Churches met in private homes for:-
1-
Worship.
2-
Instruction.
3-
Fellowship.
d)
Romans 16:3-16. Apostle
Paul took time and specifically encouraged these Local Church Leaders, men and
women alike.
e)
Laodicea was only 10
miles away from Colosse.
f)
Philemon 1:2. Philemon
was a Local Church Leader in Colosse, with a Church meeting in his house.
g)
The Word “Church” in
Greek here came from the Greek Word kuriakon
which means The Lord’s House. There would be several or many such Houses in a
particular City or Province, these combined making up the Area Church. It was
generally to the Area Churches that Apostle Paul wrote his Epistles.
(Through this QT I discover The Early Local Church)
‘John The Baptist Told The People What To Do.’
Luke 3:8.
a)
Produce fruit consistent
with repentance.
b)
They were not to claim
their race as being important, in this case Jewish.
c)
Trust God, He alone can
give Life.
(Through
this Second one I am challenged by what John The Baptist Told The People What
To Do)
Chris.
Nympha
hosted the Believers in her house. This was a Believers’ meeting. I am sure
that sometimes non-believers would sometimes be invited but the whole meeting
was not “geared” towards them. This was a Believers’ meeting and of course any
people who were present that were not Believers could be convicted and touched
by the Work of the Holy Spirit as the Truth was proclaimed and the Fellowship
was partaken.
