Chris.
Jesus taught His Disciples against selfish lives and lifestyles.
We live in days where the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ has become so
selfish. This is not just a reflection of the unresolved issues of sin and the
fallen human nature, through correct Teaching and Prayer that problem can be
resolved. The deep problem of selfishness is because of wrong “teaching” of the
Word of God about “faith” and portraying God as One Who just “wants to do
something for you”. I call this the crowd mentality! There were crowds who
followed Jesus just to get something from Him. We do not know if some of them
eventually became Believers in the New Testament Church, but when Jesus walked
on the Earth these people were definitely not His Disciples, they did not want
to learn anything from Him. They were just the crowd. So many Churches today
encourage the “crowd mentality” to try to make the Church grow. It only
produces many problems. Jesus told the Church to make disciples and not to have
the crowd mentality.
