‘Restoration Brings Joy!
Nehemiah 8:1-12.
a)
Nehemiah 8:1. All of God’s
People gathered together in the Square by the Water Gate. They called Ezra to
teach them the Word of God.
b)
Nehemiah 8:2-3. The
people listened carefully to the Teaching of Ezra.
c)
Nehemiah 8:4. Ezra was
supported on the Teaching Pulpit by a team of Ministers.
d)
Nehemiah 8:5. As Ezra
opened the Book to read the people stood up.
e)
Nehemiah 8:6. Ezra
Praised the Lord, the Great God. Then all the people:-
1-
Answered “Amen, Amen.”
2-
Lifted up their hands.
3-
Bowed themselves.
4-
Worshipped the Lord with their faces toward the ground.
f)
Nehemiah 8:7. The
Ministers who were with Ezra helped the people to understand. Everyone remained
standing.
g)
Nehemiah 8:8. The
Ministers:-
1-
Read from the Book of the Law of God distinctly.
2-
Gave the sense.
3-
Caused the people to understand the Reading.
h)
Nehemiah 8:9. Nehemiah,
Ezra and the Teaching Priests encouraged the people not to weep because the day
was special – a Holy Day to the Lord.
i)
Nehemiah 8:10. They were
to have celebrated joyfully and compassionately, this was “The Day Of The Lord”
and the Joy of the Lord was to be the people’s strength.

Nehemiah 8:11. The
Levites calmed the people down and cheered the people up.
k)
Nehemiah 8:12. All the
people joyfully went away to celebrate because they understood what they had
just been taught..

There are many different
ways in which the Holy Spirit is manifested when He comes. We read here about
the Joy and Freedom that He Brings. We also read about the ways He manifests
Himself and how He Convinces the people of the World system. We should ponder
upon the ways in which the Holy Spirit has manifested Himself to us.
