Church Discipline!


‘Church Discipline.’
1 Corinthians 5:2.
a) Should be given in humility.
b) Should be given in an attitude of grief and not anger.
c) Sometimes means that the person being disciplined is put out of the Church.
(This QT shows me the necessity for the correct way to carry out Church Discipline)

‘Obtaining Mercy.’
a) 1 Timothy 1:13. Because of former ignorance and unbelief.
b) Hosea 2:1. Because of being pitied by God.
c) Hosea 2:23. Given by God to those people who had not obtained it.
d) Romans 11:30. Even though in the past they were disobedient to God, now they have obtained it.
e) 1 Corinthians 7:25. From the Lord to become trustworthy.
f) 2 Corinthians 4:1. And now we have a Ministry – we do not faint.
g) 1 Timothy 1:16. But I obtained mercy for the reason that in me, as the foremost of sinners, Jesus Christ might show forth and display all His perfect long-suffering and patience for an example to encourage those people who would thereafter believe on Him for the gaining of Eternal Life.
h) 1 Peter 2:10. In the past we had not, but now we have.
(This Second one reminds me of the wonderful Grace in Obtaining Mercy)

Sometimes we shirk away from Church Discipline because of fear of unjust judgement being given or anger being manifested. Those kinds of manifestation are really not to be present at times of Church Discipline. When Church Discipline is being given it should be in gentleness and grief, then it will be correct.
