Oxen!


‘Oxen.’
a) Proverbs 14:4; 1 Kings 19:19; Job 1:14. Can be a source of income if they work.
b) Genesis 20:14. In Old Testament days had bargaining power.
c) Genesis 21:27. In Old Testament days were used to make treaties.
d) Genesis 49:6. Were sometimes objects of human cruelty.
e) Leviticus 7:23. Their fat was never to be eaten.
f) Numbers 7:3-8; 2 Samuel 24:22; 1 Kings 8:5. Were used in the Worship and Work of the Lord.
g) Numbers 7:17. Were offered as a Peace Offering to the Lord.
h) Deuteronomy 5:14. Had to rest on the Sabbath.
i) Deuteronomy 18:3. Were eaten by the priests.
j) 1 Samuel 11:7. Were used by King Saul to manipulate the people through fear.
k) 2 Samuel 6:6. God caused them to have an accident whilst working when His People were not in His Will.
l) 2 Chronicles 18:2. Were delicious meat.
m) Job 6:5. Get noisy when they have no food.
n) Psalm 144:14. Were evidences of God’s Blessing.
o) 1 Corinthians 9:9. Should be fed well so that they will work well.
(Through this QT I esteem God’s Creation – especially today – Oxen)

‘Christ Our Living Stone.’
1 Peter 2:4-5.
a) We can come to Him.
b) He was rejected by men.
c) He is Choice and Precious in the sight of God the Father.
d) We are living stones being built up as a spiritual house.
e) We are a Holy Priesthood – this refers not so much to the individual but to the Church.
f) We are to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
(This Second one gives me the desire to offer up spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God – Christ Our Living Stone)

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. He is the only way to Father God. We can come to Him. One of the invitations that He gives to us in the Gospels is it come to Him. He is Choice and Precious in the sight of God the Father. He is the Only Son through Whom God provides Salvation for us.
