Acts 15:1. Paul and Barnabas were at Antioch
of Syria.
b)
Acts 15:1. Some Judaea Believers arrived and
began to teach the Antioch Believers incorrectly.
c)
Acts 15:1. They taught the Antioch Believers
that in order to be Saved they had to be circumcised.
d)
Acts 15:2. Apostle Paul and Barnabas totally
disagreed with this false teaching, they argued vehemently.
e)
Acts 15:2. The Antioch Church decided to send
Paul and Barnabas with a group of local True Believers to ascertain the opinion
of the Jerusalem Elders. (Notice these Judaea Believers were not included)
f)
Acts 15:3. The delegates from the Antioch
Church went off to Jerusalem, they stopped on the way at the Churches of Phoenicia
and Samaria.
g)
Acts 15:3. These delegates brought the joyful
news that Gentiles were also being converted.
h)
Acts 15:4. Upon arrival in Jerusalem Paul and
Barnabas brought the wonderful news about the conversion of the Gentiles.
i)
Acts 15:4. They reported everything that God
had done through them.
j)
Acts 15:5. Some of the Pharisee Believers
stood up with the same message that if the Gentiles were to be Saved then they
had to be circumcised. This matter became a discussion issue in the Church that
was eventually rejected by the Church Leadership.
(This Second one teaches me that Sometimes I
Need To Say No To Religious People, especially those who burden True Believers
with unbiblical rules and statements)
--------
Chris.
This is a necessary and clear fact: sometimes we need to say “no”
to religious people. Some of these people seem to be very “spiritual” and so we
feel somewhat inferior to them spiritually and because of that inferior
position we accept what they say and what they want us to do therefore binding
us in religious legalism. The Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ sets us free
from all this legalism and bondage and we need to keep free from it.
