‘Next Generation - Struggle Or Blessing?’
Ecclesiastes 2:19-21.
a) Ecclesiastes 2:19. Who knows whether our next
generation will be wise or foolish?
b) Ecclesiastes 2:19. The next generation will
become the master(s) of all that we have toiled and used our wisdom for.
c) Ecclesiastes 2:20. These thoughts gave the
writer despair in his heart as he considered all of his toils.
d) Ecclesiastes 2:21. Here a vanity and great
evil in the writer’s mind – sometimes there is a person who has toiled with:-
1- Wisdom.
2- Knowledge.
3- Skill.
e) Ecclesiastes 2:21. This person leaves
everything to be enjoyed by someone who did not toil for it.

‘The Next Generation Of Spiritual Fathers.’
1 Corinthians 4:14-16.
a) 1 Corinthians 4:14. Apostle Paul was writing
to the Church at Corinth not to shame them but to offer advice to them as his
dearly beloved children. He saw himself and they saw him as a ‘spiritual
father.’
b) 1 Corinthians 4:15. Even if the Corinth Church
had many ‘spiritual instructors’ they only had one ‘spiritual father’, that was
Apostle Paul.
c) 1 Corinthians 4:16. Apostle Paul wanted to see
many ‘spiritual fathers’ raised up in the Church at Corinth.
(This
Second one also causes me to pray for the raising up of The Next Generation Of
Spiritual Fathers)

There are
differing emotions that may come to us as we consider all of our toils. Some
people may have great joy as they see the good fruit of their labours being of
Blessing and benefit to the next generation. There are others who may be having
a difficult time, thinking that all their hard work has been wasted on a
careless next generation. Yet other people may be depressed because they feel
that their life has been fruitless and meaningless. Whatever our emotion about
these things, we surely need God’s Comfort and Help.
