Chris.
Faith in God is very important. It is through Faith in God that we can experience His Working in our lives. Primarily, it is through Faith in God that we experience forgiveness of our sins and the Gift of New Life in Christ.
From that point, we begin our "life in the Lord Jesus", and as we begin to follow the Christian walk, our Faith in God grows. In 1624, a man named John Donne wrote: "no man is an island". This is not a 'Bible Verse', but it exposes a Truth contained in the Scriptures. As Believers in Jesus Christ, we are tremendously helped and encouraged through Fellowship with other Believers. (This does not just mean 'meeting people', many of us do that every day ~~! But it means some kind of time together with them.)
For some of us, because of our life experience, we can have Faith in God, but it is difficult for us to trust other people. If that is our experience, He understands us and wants to restore and heal our trust.
In my limited experiences of ministry, I met someone who simply refused to leave her home during the hours of daylight, even though one time it was surrounded by fire because of someone else's accident - she still refused to come outside. She had a car, she was intelligent, but because of her life experiences she became deeply rooted in fear. There were many complicated, and very real, fears in her life, but she eventually came out, not only to a shop, but also to Church.
Many times I have seen, I can witness to, and formerly I have personally experienced, this fact: Faith overcomes fear! Faith helps us to make decisions that overcome our fear-based actions or inactions. In Mark 11:22, Jesus told His Disciples to: 'Have Faith in God.' This same exhortation applies to us today.
