PRAYER: For the Lord's Help when we need it. He is there to help us!
-----------
Chris.
We can trace many facts about the Nations if we study about them. If we are going to be praying for the Nations, it is really beneficial to obtain as much relevant information about those Nations as possible. True intercessors will study and read about the Nations that they want to pray for before they pray. Good research surely aids practical intercession. Prayer for the Nations needs to be well-prepared! Prayer for the Nations can give us more of a 'heart' for those Nations and may even result in missionaries being sent by our churches or us even going as missionaries ourselves. (Many missionary "callings" have been birthed through prayer and prayer meetings!)
This kind of prayer can be so effective, bringing in God's Answer to our prayers for the specific Nations. We should never judge Nations in our bigotry and then 'pray' for them. I, personally, have been grieved, and even sometimes offended by certain Christians who are judging Nations in a negative way before praying for them.
I am sure that the recently initiated agreement between North and South Korea has come about as the result of focussed prayer.
If we are going to pray for the Nations, we should equip ourselves with the facts and books that are going to help us in our prayers and ministry of intercession.
(Even those people who have been praying for unification in Korea should not give up praying now. Prayer needs to be intensified so that the beautiful process can continue unhindered.)
Finally, today, if we are going to be praying for the Nations, we should be praying for their Churches, their Governments and the Secretary General of the United Nations first. That is before we pray for other matters for them.
