Practical Harmony In The Church!


‘Practical Harmony In The Church.’
Romans 14:19-23.
a) Romans 14:19. Let us aim for harmony in the Church and try to build each other up.
b) Romans 14:20. Don’t tear apart the work of God over what you eat. Remember, all foods are acceptable, but it is wrong to eat something if it makes another person stumble.
c) Romans 14:21. It is better not to do anything that would make another person stumble.
d) Romans 14:22. Our own conviction and conscience is important to us in a personal way.
e) Romans 14:23. If we doubt, then follow our convictions.
f) Romans 14:23. To ignore our own convictions and conscience is sin.

‘Forty Days.’
a) Genesis 7:4, 12 & 17. The flood came upon the Earth.
b) Genesis 8:6. Forty more days to the beginning of New Life.
c) Genesis 50:3. The time for an embalming period.
d) Exodus 24:18; 34:28. Moses was on the Mount with God.
e) Numbers 13:25; 14:34; Deuteronomy 9:9. The spies looked out in the Promised Land.
f) Deuteronomy 9:18. The time of Moses’ repentance on behalf of God’s People.
g) 1 Samuel 17:16. Goliath goaded Israel.
h) 1 Kings 19:8. Elijah had a forty day journey.
i) Jonah 3:4. Jonah was given the Message that Nineveh would be destroyed in forty days.
j) Matthew 4:2. Christ fasted.
k) Mark 1:13; Luke 4:2. Christ was tempted by Satan.
l) Acts 1:3. For forty days after His Resurrection Christ appeared to His Disciples at different times.

When we are called to repent or our heart is moved to repent, this is not a light thing. Firstly, repentance is a turning away from sin in a specific way to God. Secondly, repentance must include some kind of confession of sin specifically. Thirdly, repentance should bring forth fruit, the fruit of repentance.
