Finishing Well!


‘Finishing Well.’
a) Romans 15:23. Our work of ministry in a certain region.
b) 2 Timothy 4:7. The race that God has given us to run.
c) 1 Peter 4:1. Getting rid of sin in our lives.
d) Genesis 28:15. God does.
e) Numbers 4:15; Ezekiel 43:22-23. Preparing the place of Worship.
f) Deuteronomy 20:9; 2 Samuel 11:19. What you have to say to the people.
g) Deuteronomy 26:12. Paying our tithes.
h) Ruth 2:21. Gathering the harvest.
i) 1 Chronicles 28:20. All the work for the service of the House of the Lord.
j) Jeremiah 51:63. Reading the book.
k) John 17:4. The work that God gives us to do.

‘An Elder.’
a) 1 Timothy 5:1. Should not be rebuked sharply.
b) 1 Timothy 5:19. Should not be accused glibly.
c) 1 Timothy 3:1. Is an honourable position to aspire to.
d) 1 Timothy 3:2. Must:-
1- Be a man whose life is above reproach.
2- Be Faithful to his wife.
3- Exercise self control.
4- Live wisely.
5- Have a good reputation.
6- Enjoy having guests in his home.
7- Be able to Teach.
e) 1 Timothy 3:6. An elder must not be a new Believer, because he might become proud, and the devil would cause him to fall.
f) Titus 1:6-7. Must:-
1- Live a blameless life.
2- Be faithful to his wife.
3- Have children who are Believers and who do not have a reputation for being wild or rebellious.
4- Not be arrogant.
5- Not be quick tempered.
6- Not be a heavy drinker.
7- Not be violent.
8- Not be dishonest with money.
(This Second one shows me the responsibilities of being An Elder)

It is not according to the Scripture to make a new Believer an Elder. Too much responsibility in the Church can cause a new Believer to become proud, this can have devastating results for the person concerned and the Church. Also too much responsibility for the new Believer can give that person the wrong concept of what Church is meant to be.
