a) Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan was spared.
b) Jonathan was the son of Saul.
c) The Lord's Oath was between David and Jonathan.
d) This saved the life of Mephibosheth.

The Lord's Word was kept. The Word did not make itself kept. It had to be bept by those people who heard it. This is the same with our lives. We should not be passive in our life as a True Believer. If God's Word is speaking to us in some way we should respond to it. When the Word of God is kept in our heart it can produce much good from the fertile ground of our heart.
