‘One In Marriage, One In Christ.’
Ephesians 5:31-33.
a) Ephesians 5:31. A man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife. (This is difficult for some men that are “attached” to their mothers)
b) Ephesians 5:31. Husband and wife become one flesh.
c) Ephesians 5:32. This is a profound and great mystery.
d) Ephesians 5:32. This is an illustration of the way Christ and the Church are one.
e) Ephesians 5:33. Each man must love his wife as he loves himself.
f) Ephesians 5:33. Each wife should see that she respects her husband.
(This QT teaches me an important fact for the True Believer’s family: One In Marriage, One In Christ)

‘Mere Human Teachings.’
a) Colossians 2:22 Are about perishable things.
b) Mark 7:18-19; John 6:27. Can make teachings about the food we eat legalistic and are incorrect. Our food cannot defile us. (Eat sensibly and not religiously)
c) 1 Corinthians 6:13. Majors on food and encourages immorality.
d) Isaiah 29:13. Causes “worship” just to be manmade rules. (This can affect all kinds of Churches – even “Charismatic” ones)
e) Matthew 15:3-9. Violate the direct Commandments of God.
f) Titus 1:14. Maybe bound up in Jewish myths and given by people who have turned away from the Truth.
(This Second one makes me want to reject all Mere Human Teachings)

A man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife. This does not mean dishonouring of parents but it means that a clear priority should be given to his wife. Sometimes people use the excuse of “culture” to ignore these clear teachings of the Word of God. That is error, a mistake, because God’s Word is always Truth. Apostle Paul was writing into the culture of Ephesus and proclaiming God’s Truth to them.
