Chris.
Apostle Paul came from a very non-Christian background and life-style. In his pre-Christian experience he had much of everything, finance, authority and education. In order to really know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, Paul gave the value and prestige of all this up.
Jesus Christ had really become Lord of Paul's life. Instead of being a "master", Paul became a servant, instead of being a "bully", he became a loving and sincere Apostle of Christ. He became a "model" of Faith and Service for Servants of the Lord today.
It is good for every Church Pastor and Elder to read the Life and Teachings of Apostle Paul. The life of "servant leadership" is a good life, a life that is profitable for all True Believers to understand. Generally, the concept of "servant leadership" is foreign to most Churches, but if it is applied, it brings a beautiful life-style and good example (model) to the the Believers.
What a wonderful moving of the Holy Spirit would occur if every denomination and local Church were to focus on the concept of "servant leadership". This concept can help the Church, both national and local, come into the spiritual condition, fragranced by prayer, whereby longed-for revival can come! In one Church that I sometimes attended and served, in order to be invited to become an Elder, there were menial duties to be carried out regularly: Car Park attendant on Sundays; cleaning wash-rooms - especially on Sundays! Also included were hospitality, helping the elderly and infirm get to a seat in the Church Sanctuary and other such duties. These duties were to be carried out well and with sincerity.
All the elders would gather regularly with the Senior Pastor for Bible Study and Prayer. What a wonderful lesson for every local Church, whatever the size of the congregation!
