'No Oaths Please.'
Matthew 5:33-37.
a) Matthew 5:33. The Old Testament concept was that Oaths were necessary and should not be broken.
b) Matthew 5:34. Jesus simply said that we should not make Oaths by Heaven, for it is God's Throne.
c) Matthew 5:35. By Earth, for it is God's Footstool.
d) Matthew 5:35. By Jerusalem, for it is the City of the Great King.
e) Matthew 5:36. By our own head, because we cannot make one hair black or white.
f) Matthew 5:37. Let our Yes be Yes. Let our No be No.
g) Matthew 5:37. Oaths are sin, they are temptations to do evil.
