Fire! The Word brings different pictures to our minds. Some of
them are positive and others may be fearful. All depends on our circumstances
in life. Most of my experiences of fire have been positive: the live fire in
the home, keeping it comfortable in the cold seasons, the fire of the barbeque,
and the fire of the old fashioned steam engine driving it along the rails. Some
people have fearful experiences of house fires and bush fires. A car catching
fire as it goes down the highway is another awful experience to go through. The
best fire is the Fire of God, it has a purifying and empowering effect on our
lives. Jesus said that He will baptise us with the Holy Spirit and Fire.
