a) David learned of Saul's plan.
b) Saul plotted evil against David.
c) David spoke to Abiathar the priest.
d) He asked Abiathar to bring the ephod.
e) Then David could ask the Lord what he should do.

We are to give as freely as we have received. These are simple and clear Words from Jesus Christ. Too frequently these Words are used to manipulate Church people to give more money to the Church. We can share the things that we have received from the Lord with others. This may include healing and helping others. It is basically far more a practical Word from the Lord rather than just a financial one.
