John 15:1-17.

a) vv1-8. Jesus is the Life-Giving Vine.

i) v1. The True Vine.

A-John 1:9; 1 John 2:8. He is the True Light.

B-John 1:17. He is the Initiator of Truth.

C-John 6:32. He is the True Bread from Heaven.

D-John 14:6. He is the Truth.

E-Jeremiah 10:10. He is the True God.

ii) v1. The Vine Submitted to the Vine Dresser - Father God.

A-Isaiah 27:2-3. A Vine Dresser Who:-

1-Sings to His Vineyard.

2-Keeps His Vineyard.

3-Continually Waters His Vineyard.

4-Protects His Vineyard.

B-Isaiah 60;21. A Vine Dresser Who Gives His People an Inheritance.

C-Matthew 20:1. A Vine Dresser Who Rewards His Laborers.

D-Mark 12:1 A trusting Vine Dresser.

E-1 Corinthians 3:9. A Vine Dresser Who Builds and Teams with His People.

iii) v2. The Purifying Life Giving Vine Who Takes away the fruitless and Prunes the Fruitful.

A-Matthew 3:10. The axe is laid to the root of the tree.

B-Matthew 21:19. Jesus Said let nothing grow and the tree withered up.

C-Psalm 51:7-8. Pruned and Washed to be Clean and Happy.

D-Malachi 3:3. Pruned that they may offer to the Lord an Offering in Righteousness.

E-Galatians 5:22-23. Pruned to bring forth Good Fruit from the Holy Spirit.

iv) v3. The Life Giving Vine Speaks the Word that makes us Clean.

A-John 13:10. Clean completely.

B-John 17:17. Clean because of Truth.

C-Ephesians 5:26. Sanctified and Cleansed by the Washing of water by the Word of God.

D-1 Peter 1:22. Clean through Obeying the Truth.

E-Psalm 19:9. Clean by the Fear of the Lord.

v) v4. The Life-Giving Vine Whom we are to Abide in.

A-John 8:31. Abide in His Word.

B-Acts 11:23. Abide in with the Purpose of Heart.

C-Galatians 2:20. Abide in Him because we are crucified with Him.

D-Colossians 1:23. Abide in Grounded and Settled.

E-Colossians 2:6. Abide in Walking in Him.

vi) v4. The Life-Giving Vine Who is the Hope of our being Fruitful.

A-2 Kings 19:20. Take root downward in Him and bear Fruit.

B-Isaiah 45:8. Salvation bears Fruit.

C-Ezekiel 17:8. Be good ground, well watered by the Holy Spirit and then become Fruitful.

D-Mark 4:20. Be good ground, hear the Word of God and then become Fruitful.

E-Genesis 48:4. Only God can make us Fruitful.

vii) v5. The Life-Giving Vine: Who is the Source of our Fruitful Life?

A-Proverbs 11:30; Isaiah 61:1-3. That we become a tree of life.

B-2 Corinthians 9:10. Increasing the Fruits of our Righteousness.

C-Ephesians 5:9. Fruit that is in:-

1-Goodness.

2-Righteousness.

3-Truth.

D-Philippians 1:11. Being filled with the Fruits of Righteousness which are by Jesus Christ.

E-Philippians 4:17. Fruit can abound to our account.

viii) v5. The Life-Giving Vine, without whom we can do nothing.

A-Acts 4:12. There is no other way or name for our Salvation.

B-John 5:19. Even Jesus could only do what the Father was doing.

C-John 9:33. Only God can make us do something meaningful.

D-2 Corinthians 13:8. We can only do for the Truth.

E-Philippians 4:13. We can do all things only through Christ.

ix) v6. The useless life of living without the Life-Giving Vine.

A-Job 15:30 A life of darkness.

B-Ezekiel 15:3-5. A life that cannot do anything.

C-Ezekiel 17:9. A life that has no prosperity.

D-Hebrews 6:8. A life lived in Rejection.

E-2 Peter 2:20. A life that gets worse and worse.

x) v7. The Life-Giving Vine Who is the Key to Answered Prayer.

A-We abide in Him.

B-His Words Abide in us.

1-John 8:37. His Word must have a place in us.

2-Deuteronomy 6:6. The Words that He Commands us - keep in our hearts.

3-Psalm 119:11. The Word that we hide in our hearts.

4-Proverbs 4:4. Let our hearts retain His Words.

5-Jeremiah 15:16. Let His Word be the Joy and Rejoicing of our hearts.

C-Then we can ask what we will, and it will be done.

1-John 14:23. So that Jesus will be glorified.

2-John 16:23. Asking the Father in Jesus' Name.

3-Psalm 37:4. Delighting ourselves in the Lord, and then He gives us the desires of our hearts.

4-Proverbs 10:24. The Desire of the Righteous shall be granted.

5-1 John 3:22. Because we keep His Commandments and do the things that are pleasing in His Sight, whatsoever we ask, we receive from Him.

xi) v8. The Life-Giving Vine, who enables us to bring Glory to Father God.

A-Psalm 92:12-15. The Righteous shall Flourish and Reveal the Lord.

B-Isaiah 60:21. The Righteous People shall Inherit the land and Glorify God.

C-Haggai 1:8. When we build the House and Family of God, He takes Pleasure in it and will be glorified.

D-Matthew 5:16. When our Light Shines, we Glorify our Father in Heaven.

E-1 Corinthians 10:31. Whatever we do, we do to the Glory of God.

b) vv9-13. Jesus is the Love-Giving Son.

i) v9. The Love Giving Son Who Loves as the Father Loves.

A-John 14:21. He Loves the Obedient.

B-Luke 19:10. He Loves the lost people.

C-1 John 3:16. He Loves through Laying Down His Life.

D-Ephesians 3:19. He Loves in order to fill us with all the Fulness of God.

E-2 Corinthians 5:14. His Love Constrains us.

ii) v10. The Love Giving Son Who shows us how to Obey God.

A-John 4:34. He Obeys God as His Meat.

B-John 8:29. He does always those things that please the Father.

 C-John 12:49. He Speaks the Words that the Father Commands Him to Speak.

D-Hebrews 10:9. He Came to do the Will of God.

E-Philippians 2:8. He was Obedient, even to the Death of the Cross.

iii) v11. The Love Giving Son, Who through Love Gives us Joy.

A-John 16:24. Joy through answered Prayer in his Name.

B-John 16:33. Joy because we Overcome in Him.

C-John 17:13. Joy because we receive the Words of Jesus.

D-2 Corinthians 1:24. Joy that is encouraged in Fellowship.

E-1 Peter 1:8. Joy as we believe.

iv) vv12-13. The Love Giving Son Who Gives us the example of how to love others, and He commands us to do it.

A-Romans 12:10. It is Brotherly Love.

B-Ephesians 5:2. It is Sacrificial Love.

C-1 Thessalonians 3:12. It is Increasing and Abounding Love.

D-1 Peter 1:22. It is Unfeigned Love. 

E-1 John 2:10. It is Love in the Light.

i) v14. The Friendly Saviour Calls for Our Response.

A-Matthew 12:50. The Response to do His Will.

B-Luke 12:4. The Response that frees us from fear.

D-Matthew 20:13. The Response of a Right Attitude.

E-Luke 14:10. The Response of Humility.

ii) v15. The Friendly Saviour Reveals the Father's Heart.

A-John 17:8. The Father's Heart through His Words that create Faith.

5-v3. To Glorify Him.

C-Jeremiah 1:5. Chosen and Sanctified.

1-Go.

3-Baptize.

E-Romans 15:16. Chosen to Minister the Gospel of God.

ii) v17. The Commissioning Leader Whose Commands are not burdensome.

A-Mark 9:25; Romans 6:17. Commands that make people Free.

B-2 Corinthians 10:5. Commands that help out thinking.

C-Romans 1:5. Commands that help our Faith in the Nations.

D-1 Peter 1:2. Commands that will bring us Health and Peace.

E-Acts 5:29. Commands that are much better than the commands of men.
