Was Lot Too Humorous?
'Was Lot Too Humorous?'
Genesis 19:14.
a) So Lot went out
b) And spoke to the young men engaged to his daughters.
c) Lot said:
d) "Quick, get out of the City!
e) "The Lord is about to destroy it!"
f) But the men thought Lot was only joking.
(This QT, "Was Lot Too Humorous?" Makes me realize that humor has a good place in our lives but too much can be risky)
PRAY: To have a good balance of humor and practical reality in our conversations.
----------
'Tell, Praise And Rejoice.'
Isaiah 63:7.
a) I will tell of the Lord's unfailing Love.
b) I will Praise the Lord for all that He has done.
c) I will Rejoice in His Great Goodness to Israel,
d) Which He has Granted according to His:
1-Unlimited Mercy.
2-Love.
3-Compassion.
(This Second one encourages me to Tell, Praise And Rejoice)
PRAY: To be able to: Tell, Praise And Rejoice as a part of our normal Christian Life.
----------
Chris.
So Lot went out to speak to the young men but they thought that he was only joking. Lot must have been a jovial father-in-law. It is really nice to have a humorous and happy family. I am sure that it is right! If, however, the head of the family is a joker, or a man who hides reality behind humor, then the family may be at risk of having unnecessary problems. Fathers should know the balance between humor and reality well.
