Deuteronomy 8:2.

b) How the Lord your God.
c) Has led you all the way.
d) In the wilderness.
e) For forty years.
f) He sent hardships.
g) To humble and test you.
h) To know what was in your heart.
i) Whether you would obey His Commands.

There are several times in the Bible when we are called to remember. It is good to be positive and have Faith, looking forward to what is ahead in our lives, ministries and churches. God's People were called here to remember all the wonderful ways in which God had kept them in the desert. We need the balance between looking ahead and remembering.
