‘We Should Cease From Sin In Our Heart.’
a) Psalm 66:18. If we keep sin in our heart the Lord will not hear our prayer.
b) Proverbs 28:9. We should not ignore the Word of God.
c) Isaiah 1:15; John 9:31. We need to know that our sins are cleared away before we can pray.
d) James 4:3. We need to pray with pure motives.

‘Pray Confidently In The Will Of God.’
1 John 5:14-15.
a) We can have confidence towards God in our prayers.
b) We know that if we ask anything according to God’s Will He hears us.
c) If we know that God listens to our requests we also know that we will have the requests that we ask of Him.

Assurance of our sins being forgiven by God is a must if we are going to have an effective and real prayer life. We live in days where sin is being “played down” as not being serious in many cultures and environments – this is totally against what the Bible teaches. We need to confess, forsake and repent of our sins if we are going to have a genuine relationship with God.
