A Servant And Soldier!


‘A Servant And Soldier.’
2 Timothy 2:2-4.
a) 2 Timothy 2:2. The Servant of God:-
1- Is to learn.
2- Is to delegate.
3- Is to release other people to be Servants of God.
b) 2 Timothy 2:3. The Servant of God must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
c) 2 Timothy 2:4. The Servant of God must not get entangled in the affairs of this life.
d) 2 Timothy 2:4. The Servant of God is a good soldier who seeks to please the Lord.
(Through this QT I am reminded of the life of a true minister of Christ – A Servant And Soldier)

‘Keep Watch.’
a) 1 Corinthians 10:12. Against pride.
b) Exodus 23:13; Joshua 22:5; 1 Kings 2:3-4. In obeying God.
c) Exodus 34:12. Against wrong contracts or agreements.
d) Deuteronomy 4:9. Over our thinking mind.
e) Joshua 23:11. Over our love for the Lord.
f) 1 Kings 8:25. Over our behaviour.
g) Psalm 39:1; 141:3. Over what we say.
h) Proverbs 4:23. Over our emotional heart.
i) Matthew 16:6; Philippians 3:2. Against hypocritical religion.
j) Matthew 25:13. For the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.
k) Galatians 6:1. That we do not fall in temptation.
l) 2 John 1:8. And be diligent, so that we will receive our full reward.
(This Second one tells me frankly to Keep Watch)

We should keep watch over what we say. If we are truly a New Creation in Christ our speech should be “seasoned with salt”. When I hear some of the lies and gossip of “Christian” people I am astounded and I pray for myself. I do not want to have the wrong attitude towards these people but to keep my heart clean. God is their Judge and not me. If they sin against the Church however, the Church must discipline such people in an appropriate way.
