Keep A Sweet Tongue!


‘Keep A Sweet Tongue.’
Proverbs 25:23-24.
a) Just as the North wind produces rain.
b) So a backbiting tongue produces angry looks.
c) It is better to live on the corner of a roof.
d) Than to share a house with a nagging wife.
(This QT simply instructs me to Keep A Sweet Tongue)

‘Have Self Control In Heart And Speech.’
a) Proverbs 14:17. A quick tempered person acts foolishly and a person of evil device is hated.
b) Proverbs 14:29. The person who is slow to anger has great understanding. The person who is quick tempered exalts folly.
c) Proverbs 15:1. A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger.
d) Proverbs 16:32. A person who is slow to anger is better than the mighty and the person who rules their spirit better than one who captures a city.
(Through this Second one I am exhorted to Have Self Control In Heart And Speech)

As God’s Children we are instructed to keep a sweet tongue. If God’s Grace has not touched our speech it is doubtful whether it has touched our heart and spirit. The Bible tells us that if we are in Jesus Christ we become a New Creation and old things, like bitterness of life and tongue, pass away.
